Gabungan Parti Sarawak (the Sarawak Parties Alliance) is a coalition that contests elections only in Sarawak, the larger of Malaysia's two Borneo states.
Its four components — Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), the Sarawak United Peoples' Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) — had been Sarawak's wing of Barisan Nasional. They left as a bloc in 2018, after that coalition lost the federal election, and reconstituted themselves as an explicitly state-based alliance.
Its politics centre on Sarawak's autonomy within the federation: the rights guaranteed by the 1963 Malaysia Agreement, control of the state's oil and gas revenue, and a larger share of federal development spending. Because it reliably returns a substantial bloc of members of parliament and takes no part in peninsular contests, it has become an influential partner in federal coalition-building.
