Ganabatirau s/o Veraman
Ganabatirau s/o Veraman, born on 6 June 1973 in Teluk Intan, Perak, is a Malaysian politician and lawyer. His political journey began in his teenage years, inspired by his grandfather, a Malaysian freedom fighter. He was active in human rights and heritage NGOs, notably co-founding The Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF) in response to temple demolitions in Malaysia. His activism led to his arrest and charge under the Sedition Act/Internal Security Act in 2007, from which he was acquitted and released in April 2009. Shortly after his release, he joined the Democratic Action Party (DAP). He served as a Shah Alam City Council councillor before being elected as the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) member for Kota Alam Shah in 2013, and subsequently appointed to the Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO). He continued as an EXCO member and MLA for Kota Kemuning until August 2023. Since November 2022, he has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Klang. Within DAP, he has served as Assistant National Publicity Secretary (March 2022 - March 2025) and State Vice Chairman of Selangor, before being promoted to State Deputy Chairman of DAP Selangor in November 2024. He is the older brother of Papparaidu Veraman, Selangor EXCO Member and Banting MLA.
