Ahmad Samsuri bin Mokhtar

Ahmad Samsuri bin Mokhtar, also known as Dr. Sam, was born in Jerteh on 16 November 1970. He holds a BEng (Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1993), an MSc from the University of Leeds (1996), and a PhD from the University of Leeds (2001) in aerospace engineering. Prior to his political career, he worked as a QA engineer, research officer, lecturer, associate professor, and head of the Aerospace Engineering Department at UPM. He also served as a professor in practice for UNISEL and received his Professional Engineer certificate in 2024. Ahmad Samsuri served as the Political Secretary to Abdul Hadi Awang from 2008 to 2018. He became the 15th Menteri Besar of Terengganu and MLA for Ru Rendang in May 2018, succeeding Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman after PAS won the state election. He was sworn in for a second term on 15 August 2023. In December 2023, he was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kemaman in a by-election, representing Perikatan Nasional. He has been a Vice President of PAS since June 2019 and served as the Treasurer-General of Perikatan Nasional from November 2020 to December 2024.
