1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MyPoliticians website and its related pages and features (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use the Service.
The Service is operated by the individual or entity behind MyPoliticians (the “Operator”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms apply to all visitors and users of the Service.
2. Description of the Service
MyPoliticians is a political-transparency platform that aggregates and presents publicly available information about Malaysian politics. This includes information about Malaysian politicians, the federal Parliament (Dewan Rakyat) and State Legislative Assemblies (Dewan Undangan Negeri / DUN), electoral constituencies and seats, election and nomination dates, candidates, related news, and parliamentary Hansard records.
Information is compiled from publicly available sources, including but not limited to Wikipedia, official records of the Election Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya / SPR) and Parliament, census and statistical data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), and Malaysian news outlets accessed via RSS feeds and news aggregation services. Some content is generated or summarised with the assistance of an artificial-intelligence language model (“Ilmu”).
The Service is provided for general public information. We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.
3. Informational Purposes Only
The Service and all content available through it are provided for general informational purposes only. Nothing on the Service constitutes legal, electoral, financial, professional, or other advice, and it should not be treated as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional or for official sources.
For authoritative information — including official candidate lists, voter registration status, nomination and polling dates, and electoral procedures — you should always consult the official sources, such as the Election Commission of Malaysia (SPR) and the Parliament of Malaysia. Do not rely on the Service for any decision that has legal or electoral consequences.
4. Accuracy & AI-Assisted Content
We aim to present accurate and up-to-date information, and we provide source attribution where practicable so that you can verify content against its origin. However, the information is aggregated from third-party public sources and, in part, extracted or summarised using an AI language model. Such information may be incomplete, outdated, mis-attributed, or otherwise inaccurate.
AI-assisted content in particular may contain errors, mis-summaries, or “hallucinations”. Where content is AI-generated or AI-summarised, it has not necessarily been independently verified. You should treat all content as a starting point for your own research and verify anything important against the cited or official source.
If you believe any information is inaccurate, you may submit a correction through the in-platform “report wrong info” mechanism or by contacting us (see Section 11).
5. No Warranties (Provided “As Is”)
The Service and all content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties or representations of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. This includes, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.
We do not warrant that the Service will be available at all times, that defects will be corrected, or that the content is free from errors or omissions.
6. Acceptable Use & Prohibited Conduct
You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any applicable Malaysian or other law, including laws relating to defamation, sedition, harassment, or data protection;
- submit content through the report or feedback mechanisms that is false, defamatory, abusive, harassing, obscene, or that infringes the rights of any person;
- scrape, harvest, or extract data from the Service at scale or by automated means in a manner that places an unreasonable load on our infrastructure or circumvents technical limits;
- interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the security or integrity of the Service, its servers, or networks, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system or the internal admin portal;
- use the Service to mislead voters, impersonate any person, or misrepresent the source or accuracy of information; or
- use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it, or that infringes the intellectual-property or other rights of the Operator or any third party.
We may, without notice and at our discretion, remove content, restrict access, or take other action in response to conduct we reasonably consider to breach these Terms.
7. Intellectual Property & Public-Source Data
The MyPoliticians name, branding, design, layout, original text, and software are owned by or licensed to the Operator and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may view and share the content for personal, non-commercial, and informational use, with appropriate attribution, but you may not reproduce the Service’s original elements on a commercial scale without our permission.
Much of the factual data presented through the Service — including names, constituencies, election dates, voting records, and statistical figures — originates from publicly available sources and official records and remains subject to the rights, licences, and terms of those original sources. We do not claim ownership of such underlying facts or of third-party content, and attribution to the original source is provided where practicable. Trademarks, logos, and party emblems belong to their respective owners.
8. Third-Party Links & Sources
The Service contains links to, and content derived from, third-party websites, news outlets, and data sources. These are provided for convenience and attribution only. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content, accuracy, availability, privacy practices, or policies of any third-party site or source. Accessing third-party content is at your own risk and subject to the terms of those third parties.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your access to, use of, or inability to use the Service, or your reliance on any content, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable Malaysian law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Operator and its contributors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected with your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your infringement of the rights of any third party, including any content you submit through the Service.
11. Corrections & Takedown Requests
We take accuracy seriously. If you believe any information on the Service is inaccurate, outdated, or should be removed — or if you are an individual featured on the Service and wish to request a correction or takedown — you may:
- use the in-platform “report wrong info” mechanism available on the relevant page; or
- contact us by email at [email protected] with details of the content and the basis for your request.
We will review legitimate requests within a reasonable time and may correct, annotate, or remove content as appropriate. Where content derives from a public or official source, we may also refer you to that source.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, the law, or our practices. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may be highlighted on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to any non-excludable rights you may have, you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia in respect of any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service.
14. Contact
For questions about these Terms, or to submit a correction or takedown request, please contact us at [email protected].
