Azman bin Nasrudin

Azman bin Nasrudin, born on 11 April 1972 in Sungai Bakap, Penang, Malaysia, is a Malaysian politician. He received his early education at SMK Agama Al-Mashoor and SMK Tunku Abdul Rahman, Alor Setar, followed by a Diploma from Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia Kampus Tuanku Bainun and a Bachelor's Degree in Arts (History and Political Science) from University of Science Malaysia (USM). Prior to his political career, Azman served as a school teacher for 22 years. His political journey began in 2013 when he was elected as the Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Lunas under the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition. He successfully defended his seat in the 2018 state election under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and served as a Member of the Kedah State Executive Council (EXCO) in the PH state administration from 2018 to 2020. On 12 May 2020, Azman defected from the People's Justice Party (PKR) and became an independent MLA supporting the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, which led to the collapse of the PH state administration in Kedah. He was subsequently reappointed as an EXCO member in the PN state administration from May 2020 to August 2023. He remained the MLA for Lunas until August 2023. Since December 2022, he has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Padang Serai. He is currently a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the PN coalition.
