Hishammuddin bin Hussein

Hishammuddin bin Hussein (born 5 August 1961) is a Malaysian politician and lawyer. He served as Senior Minister of the Security Cluster and Minister of Defence from 2021 to 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2020 to 2021, and Minister of Defence from 2013 to 2018. He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Sembrong since 2004, and previously for Tenggara from 1995 to 2004. A member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) since 1989, he also served as UMNO Youth chief in 1998 and vice president in 2009. Born in Johor Bahru, he is the son of Malaysia's third Prime Minister Hussein Onn and grandson of UMNO founder Onn Jaafar. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from Aberystwyth University (1984) and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics (1988), and was a partner at Skrine before founding his own law firm.
