Prabakaran a/l Parameswaran
Prabakaran a/l Parameswaran, born on 8 February 1996 in Batu, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is a Malaysian politician and law student. He developed an interest in politics from primary school, influenced by his father, and later became active in school debates with political themes. In the 2018 general election, he initially contested the Batu federal seat as an independent. After the disqualification of the incumbent Chua Tian Chang from PH and PKR, Prabakaran offered to represent PH and PKR, gaining Chua's support. He won the Batu seat on 9 May 2018 with 38,125 votes and a majority of 24,438. Four days later, on 13 May 2018, he officially joined the People's Justice Party (PKR) and the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He was the youngest MP elected in Malaysia's history at 22 years and 90 days in 2018. His priorities as MP included fighting for youth rights, lowering the cost of living, bringing down the voting age, improving infrastructure, making cities disabled-friendly, enhancing education, and increasing internship opportunities. He also advocated for equality among races and religions and greater youth involvement in politics.
