Biography

Nga Kor Ming (born 11 November 1972 in Kota Bharu, Kelantan), also known as David Nga Kor Ming, is Minister of Housing and Local Government in the unity government led by Anwar Ibrahim, a post he has held since December 2022. He is a lawyer, the Member of Parliament for Teluk Intan since 2018, and the Perak state assemblyman for Kepayang. Nga is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and has been its national deputy chairman since March 2025. His family, of Fuzhou origin, settled in Ayer Tawar, Perak; he and his family are Methodists. He has been continuously in elected office since 1999, when he won the Perak state seat of Pantai Remis, which he held for three terms. He entered parliament in 2008 as MP for Taiping, defeating People's Progressive Party president M. Kayveas by 11,298 votes. When Pakatan Rakyat formed the Perak state government that year — the first time the state had been governed by anyone other than Barisan Nasional or its predecessor since independence — Nga joined the state executive council with responsibility for education, local government, housing and public transport, until the administration fell in February 2009. He was re-elected in Taiping in 2013 while also winning the state seat of Kepayang, and moved to Teluk Intan in 2018, unseating the incumbent minister Mah Siew Keong. From July 2018 to July 2020 he served as Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat. His current ministry is responsible for public housing, local councils and urban services, and his tenure has included work on affordable housing and on the finances and governance of local authorities.
