Wan Azizah Wan Ismail
Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail, born on 3 December 1952 in Singapore, is a prominent Malaysian politician. Educated at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, where she excelled in medicine and became a qualified Ophthalmologist, she served as a government doctor for 14 years. Her political career began following the dismissal and arrest of her husband, Anwar Ibrahim, in 1998, when she spearheaded the Reformasi movement. She founded Parti Keadilan Nasional in 1999, which later merged to form the People's Justice Party (PKR) in 2003, serving as its first president until 2018. Wan Azizah has been a Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh, Pandan, and currently for Bandar Tun Razak since November 2022. She made history as Malaysia's first female Deputy Prime Minister (2018-2020) and Leader of the Opposition (2008; 2015-2018). She is currently the 1st President of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition since July 2017.
