Pang Hok Liong
Pang Hok Liong, born 22 July 1957 in Labis, Johor, is a Malaysian politician and lawyer. He holds an LLM from University College London and is a Barrister-At-Law of Lincoln's Inn. He has been a practicing lawyer since 1986. He served as the Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bekok from October 1990 to April 1995. After previously contesting and losing in the 2004 and 2008 general elections for the Segamat seat, he was finally elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Labis in May 2018, representing the Democratic Action Party (DAP). He created history by winning the traditional Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA)-Barisan Nasional (BN) stronghold. He was involved in a notable incident on 20 June 1991 during the opening of the Johor State Legislative Assembly, where he was assaulted by the Sultan of Johor and the then-Crown Prince.
